Event Registration FAQ

What is the difference between a Council event and a Service Unit Event?
Council events are listed in your Program and Adult Learning Guide and are open to all registered Scouts in our council area encompassing multiple counties. Additional events may be added and can be viewed on our Service Unit website under council events and also at the council website at www.gsmists.org

Service Unit events are only open to registered Girl Scouts in the Rockford area unless otherwise specified. Information on Service Unit events are communicated through newsletters , leader meetings and on our Service Unit website at www.rockfordgs.com.

How do I know what form to use for event registrations, who to make payment out to and where to mail the form?
A Council event form can be found in the forms section of your Program and Adult Learning Guide. This form can be used for both council and Service Unit events. Council events must be submitted on the council registration form, checks made out to GSMISTS and mailed to the council office address listed on the form. In addition, you may also register for Council events on-line at their website. Credit cards must be used for on-line registrations.

To make it simpler for leaders, we have also developed a modified version of the council form just for Service Unit events. This can be found at our Service Unit website at www.rockfordgs.com. For Service Unit events, checks made out to Rockford Girl Scouts and forms must be sent to Cindy Wadlow, Treasurer. Credit card payments cannot be accepted for Service Unit events.

Can I pay for events with cookie dough?
Both Council and Service Unit events can be paid for with cookie dough. This must be included with your troop’s payments. Watch the expiration date on your cookie dough!
Can siblings be included in the Girl Scout events?
Both Council and Service Unit events are open only to registered Girl Scouts unless indicated otherwise in the event information.
Do we have attend events as a troop or can an individual girl attend what is of interest to her?
All events are also open to individual girls who are registered Girl Scouts. If registering as an individual, a parent must accompany the child to the event. Registration forms are required and the above procedures followed.
