GSMISTS Service Projects
Our Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore council is participating in two new service projects:
  • PaperGator Recycling - Drop off your paper recyclables to the GSMISTS council office at 3275 Walker.
  • Search the web with GoodSearch and a penny for every search is added to an account for Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore. Visitwww.goodsearch.com and choose the Girl Scouts of Michigan Trails as your volunteer organization. Quick and simple!
Bishop Hills Elder Care Community

  • Intergenerational activities including, but not limited to: GS Bingo, board games, crafts
  • Residents enjoy short music programs
  • Assist with Navy project making treat bags for our servicemen
  • Bowling once a month with residents: Saturday 9:00 - 10:00 am
  • Book club - reading together and discussing books
  • Placemats or cards for dining room tables: 47 residents; seasonal themes
  • Kim's Knitters: sit and knit with residents (leader will need to know how to knit to assist girls as needed)

Scouts assist the Gardens by honoring our Veterans at two annual events:
  • Christmas wreath placement during annual Christmas tree lighting; held early December
  • Memorial flag placement the Thursday prior to Memorial Day

Color-A-Smile
This is a great meeting starter, while waiting for everyone to arrive. Or when that craft that was supposed to take 30 minutes, really takes 5.

  • Host a Clubhouse Wish List Shower at your school, church or work setting
  • Create treat bags for Noogieland children
  • Create holiday decorations for Noogieland
  • Create festive place mats for our member suppers
  • Weekly sterilize Noogieland
  • Assemble special event cards
  • Help with a mailing
  • Helping hands at annual events

Organization provides brown bag dinners to over 1,000 children daily in the GR Public School system during the school week
  • Decorate #8 size bags; available at Gordon Foods; prefer white bags
  • Assemble food packs
  • Prepare foods
  • Repack food supplies into single serve packets; may be done off site at troop meeting
  • Conduct food drives - great need for 100% juice boxes
